The winner for each is determined by voting results from sportswriters and broadcasters, are listed in alphabetical order below:<\/p>\n<h2>2022 NBA Most Valuable Player Finalists:<\/h2>\n<p>Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers<br \/>\nGiannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks<br \/>\nNikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets<\/p>\n<p>2021 NBA MVP &#8211; Nikola Jokic<br \/>\n<strong>2022 NBA MVP &#8211; Nikola Jokic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s back to back MVP awards for The Joker! Jokic is the 15th player in NBA history to win the MVP multiple times and the second straight winner to go back-to-back after Giannis Antetokounmpo won it in 2018-19 and 2019-20.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/top-5-winning-streaks-to-start-nba-season\/\">NBA season<\/a>, Jokic became the first player in NBA history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season.<\/p>\n<h2>2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Finalists:<\/h2>\n<p>Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics<br \/>\nMikal Bridges, <a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/charlotte-hornets-cool-af\/\">Charlotte Hornets<\/a><br \/>\nRudy Gobert, Utah Jazz<\/p>\n<p>2021 Defensive Player of the Year: Rudy Gobert<br \/>\n<strong>2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year: Marcus Smart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Marcus Smart became the first perimeter player to win the DPOY award since the Seattle Supersonics Gary Payton.<\/p>\n<h2>2022 NBA Rookie of the Year:<\/h2>\n<p>Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers<br \/>\nScottie Barnes, Toronto Raptors<br \/>\nCade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons<\/p>\n<p>2021 Rookie of the Year: LaMelo Ball<br \/>\n<strong>2022 Rookie of the Year: Scottie Barnes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of all the 2022 NBA awards this was the one I was looking forward to the most. You could make a legitimate argument for any of these three players to win Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, Barnes bested Mobley by a total of 15 points. Mobley had more 2nd and 3rd place votes, but the 5 more first place votes won it for Barnes. It was the smallest margin of victory since the NBA started using the current voting format 19 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>If Evan Mobley would not have gotten hurt, the way him and Jarrett Allen teamed up to make CLE good again, was enough for me.<\/p>\n<h2>2022 NBA Sixth Man of the Year:<\/h2>\n<p>Tyler Herro, Miami Heat<br \/>\nCam Johnson, Phoenix Suns<br \/>\nKevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers<\/p>\n<p>2021 Sixth Man of the Year: Julius Randle<br \/>\n<strong>2022 Sixth Man of the Year: Tyler Herro<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>When the finalists were announced, it was obvious that Herro was the most deserving.<\/p>\n<h2>2022 NBA Coach of the Year:<\/h2>\n<p>Monty Williams, Phoenix Suns<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/erik-spoelstra-the-best-nba-coach-you-forgot-about\/\">Erik Spoelstra<\/a>, Miami Heat<br \/>\nTaylor Jenkins, Memphis Grizzlies<\/p>\n<p>2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/whats-paul-westphals-phone-number-nba-coaching-carousel-out-of-control\/\">NBA Coach<\/a> of the Year: Tom Thibodeau<br \/>\n<strong>2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/whats-paul-westphals-phone-number-nba-coaching-carousel-out-of-control\/\">NBA Coach<\/a> of the Year: Monty Williams<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>Congrats to Monty Williams but what in the world does Erik Spoelstra have to do to win one of these? Or has he entered Bill Belichick territory where people take how great a coach he is for granted and assume he has already won?<\/p>\n<p>It honestly feels like Williams got this award because of how the Suns overachieved their way to the Finals last year.<\/p>\n<h2>Most Improved Player:<\/h2>\n<p>Darius Garland, Cleveland Cavs<br \/>\nDejounte Murray, San Antonio Spurs<br \/>\nJa Morant, Memphis Grizzlies<\/p>\n<p>2021 Most Improved Player: Jordan Clarkson<br \/>\n<strong>2021 Most Improved Player<\/strong>: <strong>Ja Morant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MVP race has been among the closest in recent history this season. Embiid and Jokic fought for pole position all season with Antetokounmpo, a two-time winner, looming in the background.<\/p>\n<p>Jokic is expected to repeat as a winner this season, but we won&#8217;t know for certain until the awards are announced.<\/p>\n<p>TNT will announce the winner of the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/top-5-highest-scoring-individual-nba-playoff-games\/\">NBA Awards during its coverage of the 2022 NBA Playoffs<\/a> presented by Google Pixel.
